This past weekend, over 90 Kiwanians, including about 20 First Time attendees to District events, met in Boalsburg (near State College) for the PA District MidYear Conference. We built resilience by learning Mindfulness strategies from our Keynote Speaker, Jason Sizemore, from the Mindful Child Initiative. We built compassion by learning about Trauma Informed Care philosophy; Knowledge in the technology and Kiwanis ENGAGE realm; and safety within Risk Management and Youth Protection areas. We built our service project repertoire for kids that address mental health and wellness; a legacy for our clubs with strategic and succession planning; fundraising ideas; Membership strengthening strategies and how to support and nurture our youngest K-Family members (K-Kids and Builder’s Clubs). I want to thank all of the forum presenters and Kiwanians that shared their club successes and plans. Most of all, we built and strengthened our relationships and friendships with others across the district.
Takeaways from MidYear… Please share what you learned with your club. Please consider what resonated with you to implement or revise service projects and member experiences to strengthen and build your club. Please use the available resources you learned about through Kiwanis International (KI) and through your district leaders who are here to support you in you endeavor to improve the world one child and one community at a time. Build on the knowledge to make your club the best it can be for the kids.
Hope to see you all in Gettysburg August 13-16 for our District Convention. We will be celebrating “A History of Service”.
