Youth Protection The Pennsylvania District of Kiwanis International has adopted both the International Youth Protection Guidelines and its own policy for those serving at District-level positions. Any Kiwanian serving in a District position (officer, trustee, Lt. Governor, chair) must submit background clearances as required under Pennsylvania Act 15 of 2015, and may also need to apply for a Kiwanis International clearance per International guidelines.
The District strongly encourages every Kiwanian to take the on-line training course available on the Kiwanis One web site, and every Club to annually dedicate all or part of a meeting to Club education on this issue.
The District also strongly encourages every club’s adherence to the revised Guideline requiring all Kiwanis SLP Advisors to receive a Kiwanis International background check through Safe Hiring Solutions. Those Kiwanians affected will be contacted directly by Kiwanis International.
Training and review sessions are conducted during the Mid-Winter District Conferences and Annual District Conventions.
Questions about Youth Protection can be emailed to Ryan Hartman.
Pennsylvania Background Checks Beginning July 1, 2015, an adult applying for an unpaid position as a volunteer responsible for the welfare of a child or having direct contact with children needs clearances.
