Hello Pennsylvania District! As this new year gets started, it is a time to reflect on last year and look to the year ahead. How can we continue to improve and impact our communities and children? As I noted in my last blog, it is important for clubs to review and commit to their service projects, Service Leadership Programs and community partners. You need to ensure relevance and impact. You need to check in with members to ensure they are getting what they need from their Kiwanis experience and journey. Many Hands Make the Difference…
The district is committed to supporting you in making this happen. We want to give you the tools and resources necessary to empower you to be the best you can in your community. There are many things currently occurring and that are upcoming to help your club be prepared and equipped with knowledge and resources. Please take advantage of these opportunities… Knowledge is power. Below are upcoming opportunities, updates and general information that will help your club:
- Signature Project – Applications submission was open on 1/6 and is open through 1/29. Please submit your club’s signature project. Say it #loudandproud and share the Kiwanis- led, annual service project of fundraiser you are doing. District will judge the projects and will recognize 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in Tiers 1 and 2. 1st place winners in each Tier will be forwarded to Kiwanis International for judging in the International contest.
- Note: One of my Governor goals is for 25% of clubs to submit to the Signature Project. Thus far, we have 8 submissions… we need at least 32 submissions to meet this goal.
- MidYear – MidYear Conference registration is live. MidYear is March 7 and is at the Wyndham Hotel in Boalsburg (near State College). The theme is We Build, paying homage to some Kiwanis history and also showing the commitment of building and securing a strong foundation for clubs.
- Please register for this conference. There are still spaces available for First Timers—their registration is discounted. (New clubs, this would be an amazing opportunity for you to learn and connect with other Kiwanians)
- Please consider a sponsorship and Shout-Outs for this conference
- Quarterly Membership Incentive – As part of my Governor goals, I have implemented a Quarterly Membership Incentive. For each new member a club brings in, their club name gets put into a drawing (i.e. if a club brings in 3 members over the quarter, their club name goes into the drawing 3 times.). The winner of the drawing gets $100 to do as the club chooses. The 1st Quarter Drawing winner was the Kiwanis Club of Hershey-Hummelstown! Congrats Hershey-Hummelstown!!!!
- Upcoming webinars – There are learning opportunities coming up in February – one for a service project opportunity and one for new members (or members who want a refresher). There will be additional virtual webinars offered throughout the upcoming months—stay tuned!
- If there is a topic your club/division/region would like to learn about, please contact me.
