November 20, 2023 – Hope this message finds you all in great spirits as you start your Thanksgiving weekend festivities! Quick question for your club: Have you been sticking with the same fantastic leadership team year after year? Same President, Secretary, Treasurer? It’s awesome if you have, but ever thought about fresh faces taking on these key roles?
And hey, what about your division? Is it just me, or does it seem like the same Kiwanian has been rocking the Lt. Governor role forever? Now, I’m not saying they’re not doing an amazing job, but isn’t it time for a new perspective?
So, what’s the deal with becoming a Lt. Governor, you ask? Well, first off, you need to have some club leadership experience and have served 1 full term as President, Secretary, or Treasurer. Then, you can either get elected at a Division Council or Regional meeting or appointed by the District Board (if your division’s a bit shy on clubs that day). The job description is neatly outlined right on our website.
Now, why am I bringing this up? Well, it’s that time of the year to start planning for the next administrative year. I know we just started but never too early to plan and ask questions of other leaders. We want our Lt. Governors and Lt. Governors-Elect all set and trained for the 2024-25 administrative adventure.
Believe it or not, there are currently four divisions in our District without Lt. Governors. Shocking, right? I’m willing to bet that there are even more divisions without an elected Lt. Governor-Elect. Let’s change that! Our District, Division and Club grow when we GIVE of our time as leaders.
I’ve had the pleasure of serving as Lt. Governor for two terms in Division 12N and one term as an appointed Lt. Governor in 14. Hands down, some of the most enjoyable times I’ve had in Kiwanis. Getting to visit each club, meeting new Kiwanians — priceless experiences! Ask any District Leader, what their favorite role is 9/10 times they will say when they were Lt. Governors.
Now, the divisions in need of a Lt. Governor this year are Divisions 10, 11W, 13S, and 22. In these divisions, there are 454 incredible Kiwanians. Surely, among them, there are individuals with the right stuff to become Lt. Governors. What do you say? Ready to grow, step up, make a difference, and help our PA District flourish? I guarantee you won’t regret it.
Thanks for considering this call to action. Let’s make the future of Pennsylvania Kiwanis even brighter together!
Warm Regards,
Governor Conrad Pennsylvania District Governor
