Governor’s Blog: Falling into November!

November 6, 2023 – The Governor’s Project this year is a continuation of the Little Free Libraries initiative which I am calling “Bucks for Books” this administrative year.   I look forward to speaking to many of you about the Governor’s Project at the upcoming regional meetings this fall.  My hope is that all clubs in the district will be able to participate in this project that will provide children easy access to libraries or books in their communities.

The funds donated to the Governor’s Project will be used to provide Little Free Libraries to clubs who do not currently have Little Free Libraries in their communities or purchase books for existing libraries.

For more information on how your club can contribute to the project goto Bucks for Books Governor Project page.

Ending October Strong

I wrapped up October on a high note with two special activities.  First, I proudly represented PA Kiwanis on the K-Kids and Builders Club float at the Dillsburg Farmers Fair Parade. What an exciting moment it was when we clinched first place for our float! I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Dillsburg Area Kiwanians for their unwavering support and dedication in making this achievement possible. It was an honor to be a part of this Governor tradition.

Proudly representing at the Dillsburg Farmers Fair Parade on Oct 21, 2023.

Second, I attended part of the Circle K InterPACK event held at the Laurel Lodge in Altoona on Oct 28th which included a service project to assist volunteers of the St. Vincent de Paul Community Gardens in Hollidaysburg. The students helped clean up the gardens in preparation for another growing season next Spring that provides many vegetables for those in need.

Thanks especially to Past Governor Barry Halbritter and wife Marlene for allowing Circle K to hold InterPACK at the Laurel Lodge. This experience in October brought back memories of helping my father in his garden, even though gardening wasn’t my personal hobby.

Thank you to all our Kiwanis family across the District for stepping up in your communities every day.

Warm Regards,

Governor Conrad
Pennsylvania District Governor
