Governor’s Blog: Farewell, with Gratitude and Hope for the Future

September 23, 2024 – I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each of you for the privilege of serving as your District Governor this past year. It’s hard to believe the 2023-24 year is coming to a close, but it’s been an incredible journey. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout the district, meeting new Kiwanis friends, visiting clubs, and participating in so many wonderful events.

Many of you have heard me say, my first trip was to the Levittown-Bristol Kiwanis Club during my first week as Governor to induct several new members and one of the last trips I will be making will also be to the Levittown-Bristol Kiwanis Club to install their officers for the 2024-25 year, as well as, to help the club celebrate their 70th anniversary.

I had the honor of speaking at the District Convention in Reading about the exciting initiative to build the Kiwanis Club of North Central Cambria County in Ebensburg. While the club voted to close on Wednesday, September 12th ending before they really started, after some thoughtful reflection, it’s important to recognize the great progress we made, especially in bringing new Kiwanians together. Though leadership roles were a challenge for this club, I’m confident that the New Club Opening Team will continue to thrive in the 2024-25 administrative year and successfully establish many new clubs. This experience has only made us stronger and more determined.

Please welcome our District Governor Designate, Tom Harp, into your clubs, just as you welcomed me. It has been a true honor to serve the PA District this year, and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity. As soon to be Immediate Past Governor, I look forward to seeing many of you in the coming year, and I encourage you to attend the International Convention in Pittsburgh next June!

The Pennsylvania District is still looking for a Governor-Elect! Speaking with Past Governors and myself, you’ll hear how rewarding and fulfilling it is to lead at this level. While there are some policies, procedures, routine tasks and travel involved, the role truly becomes what you make of it. If you’re ready for an inspiring leadership journey, this could be your moment! If you’ve served as a Lt. Governor, consider taking the next step in leadership. Contact Governor Designate Tom Harp if you’re ready. As KI President-Elect Designate Michael Mulhaul said in Reading, “Step in, Step up, Step out — lead in your club, then beyond. If not you, who? Remember – Kids Need Kiwanis”.

This is my final blog post as Governor, and I hope you’ve found these messages both insightful and helpful as you “Grow Membership for the Kids“. I want to sincerely thank you for your leadership, dedication, and service. It’s been an honor to serve alongside you.

If you missed my other Blog post read them HERE! Stay tuned for the new Rise and Shine Blogspot coming in October!

Warm Regards,

Governor Conrad
