GOVERNOR’S TRAVELS II

Hello PA District! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your loved ones. As I noted in my initial “Governor’s Travels” blog, I traveled throughout the district the rest of October – December. The travels and hospitality of all of the regions was so amazing! I was able to share my message of my Theme “Many Hands…Making A Difference” and its symbolism as well as my Governor’s Project of Mental Health Matters and share my goals and challenges with Region meeting attendees. Club donations to the Governor’s project were given as well. Clubs in each region heard from various leaders in the district about the new Club Strengthening Coordinator role, PA Kiwanis Foundation and ACE Tools. They learned from one another and shared their thoughts and accomplishments and upcoming events where they were impacting their communities and their kids.

Travels continued in October with the District Board meeting in Dillsburg, where I also had in the opportunity to take part in the Dillsburg Farmer’s Parade on their “Under the Sea” float. (The float was honoring the Starfish in my theme and their introduction highlighted the positive impact that Kiwanis has on emotional wellness) Their float won first prize!!! Those K-Kids were amazing—actively waving to the crowd and interacting. They decided to donate their float winnings to the Mental Health Matters Governor’s Project! Region 5 had their Governor’s visit/ meeting on Zoom at the end of October.

November definitely kept me busy each weekend! Region 7 meeting was on 11/8 and I was also able to connect with members from the Kiwanis Club of Levittown-Bristol at a brunch that weekend. Region 6 meeting was 11/15 and Region 4 meeting was 11/22. I was able to connect with friends in the area at all of these meetings as well as made some new friends that will be lasting relationships. In November, I also had the opportunity and honor to participate in Abington Aktion Club’s Banquet of Thanks. This event was absolutely moving and beautiful.

December has seen the final Regional Governor’s visit in Region 2, my home region. Clubs there worked on specific ACE Tools that will assist and support their clubs and we also had interclub visitors from Clarion Club in Region 1! They honored Greensburg Circle K President who is graduating in December. She has been instrumental in strengthening this Circle K club.

Over the past 2 months, I loved having the opportunity to see different areas of the district. Each region and division is different but also very similar in many ways. The clubs in each region have passion to meet the needs in their communities and show creativity in their service. Although their service projects and events may look different, they are all addressing the same goal: to improve the world one child and one community at a time. We also all have challenges to address, but with our tenacity, some hard work, passion and togetherness, we will ensure our legacy. We are Many Hands…Making A Difference.
