November is National Gratitude Month. It encourages the practice of gratitude and appreciation for the good things in life. It coincides with the Thanksgiving holiday and serves as a reminder to acknowledge both big and small blessings, which can lead to improved mental and physical health and stronger relationships.
Intentional gratitude is the practice of consciously and actively recognizing the positive aspects of life to cultivate appreciation and happiness. This can involve daily reflection, keeping a gratitude journal, expressing thanks to others verbally or in writing, and performing acts of service. The goal is to train your brain to focus on blessings, big and small, and shift your perspective towards what you have rather than what you lack.
As Kiwanians, we have the opportunity to practice and recognize Intentional Gratitude this month and throughout the year. We perform acts of service for our communities and youth on a daily basis. We support our Service Leadership Programs to learn and grow as servant leaders in their schools and communities.
I encourage you all to reflect…Intentionally Reflect…on what you are grateful for. Be specific on what you are grateful for and why. Encouraging expressing gratitude aloud or implementing a Gratitude jar at your club or SLP meetings is a simple, but poignant exercise to get to know your members and strengthen your bonds and connection with each other.
I am thankful for this opportunity to serve as your Governor. I am thankful for the service that you all do every day for your communities and for our children to improve the world. Keep shining and being the light in the darkness. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU.
Happy Thanksgiving!
